Trance Hub

Hello Niko, Greetings from India and Thank you so much for Being our Guest for the Month of September 2016. it’s Our Pleasure and Honour to have you on Our Radio Show ‘Tonic Sessions’

Niko Zografos is a Resident DJ at Ruby Skye in San Francisco, CEO of Phoria Events and Trance Producer, We’ve seen and heard him on the biggest Trance Labels, Specially on Future Sound Of Egypt.

Q1: Who’s your personal favourite Trance Artist? And Why! (Tough One, We’re Sure)

So many to choose from over the years. I’d have to say consistently has been Aly & Fila, who also has been my biggest inspiration in trance. He sticks to his guns about pushing quality trance, and is always at his best. Some other favourites are Sean Tyas, Simon Patterson, Indecent Noise, John Askew, Ferry Tayle, among others.

Q2: In most of your old picture we see you wearing Nirvana tee’s, So we Guess you’re a big fan of American Rock, What drifted you into Trance Music? Does you coming from Rock Background have any influence on the Trance Music you Produce?

Great question! I used to grow up listening to all kinds of rock. When I saw Infected Mushroom live for the first time in 2007 (without knowing who they were before), it was such a cool fued of rock and psytrance. From there I then discovered trance DJs like Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, then soon after Aly & Fila.

Q3: How did it all Start for you & When? Because having to Manage Music Production, Being CEO of Phoria Events & Resident at the Ruby Skye, I Guess Juggling isn’t easy, Isn’t? How do you manage it all??

It all started when I saw Armin Van Buuren at SF Lovefest After Party in 2008. His performance that night, made me decide that I wanted to learn to DJ then produce music. I bought my first turntables a week or so after the event. After learning how to DJ, I played underground parties, then eventually the club 1015 Folsom.

Q4: Ruby Skye being one the legendary Venue in United States and Phoria hosting some massive event’s here, Tell us, Which One do you remember the most and Why?

Impossible to choose just one because had variety of special nights. From Markus Schulz open to close (9 hours), Ilan Bluestone & Jerome Isma’ae, Simon Patterson & John Askew, we did Open Up 100 with Simon & Jordan Suckley, the Phoria 1st anniversary with Indecent Noise with James Dymond & Mark Sherry…and so many more stand out! It feels great to contribute to our local trance scene on a regular basis.

Q5: We heard your recent remix of Cold Blue – Gold Rush, It’s Absolutely Massive. We Also We saw you on the Line Up of FSOE 450, Could you share with us about your experiences in this Magical Event.

Thanks so much! Can’t wait to announce more about that remix very soon. Playing FSOE450 this year in LA at the Hollywood Palladium was very special. That venue is iconic and to be apart of that lineup was a huge honor. One of my favorite gigs to date. I also really enjoyed FSOE400 the year before in the Bay Area.

Q6: Trance Music is blowing up in the United States, Is it the next Big Thing? What are your thought’s?

Trance has always been strong in certain parts in the United States since the 90s. In my opinion, the popularity and strength of the scene comes in waves but never dies down too much. Now it feels like it’s picking up more than it ever has, and I’m very excited to be apart of it. From Dreamstate & Insomniac, to promoters all across the country, it’s really great to see trance thriving in the United States more than it ever has.

Q7: We are almost heading towards the end of 2016, what are your future plans?

Loads of new music! My next single on FSOE Recordings is called “Behind the Silence” is being debuted on the new FSOE450 Compilation out on October 7th. I’ll announce more details on the singles release shortly after. I also have loads of special things I wll be debuting at Dreamstate SoCal in November.

Q8: Niko’s Quick Tip for the Newbie’s in the Industry?

Work hard, stay humble, be original, and network!
