At around 12:30 p.m., authorities began receiving reports that a plane had crashed into Green Castle Street near Jeremy Street. According to the FAA, the plane was a twin-engine Cessna C340 and crashed at 12:15 p.m.
The crash appeared to have set fire to at least two homes, but firefighters extinguished the fire before spreading to other homes.
Information on the cause of the crash and potential victims was not immediately available.
According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, officers were found dead between Jeremy St. and 2nd St. and Mast PLVD. Magnolia Away. 10123 Riverwalk Dr.
Meanwhile, Santana High School officials tweeted during an emergency response to the crash and fire: “All students are safe. There was a plane crash 2 or 3 blocks away. We are currently on ‘safe campus’.”
Just before 1pm, school officials tweeted: “It has been fixed for us by DSSDSOSantee to come out of the safe campus. If there were no other classes today, students would leave the ‘safe campus’ for lunch or dismissal.
