It looks like the name of the next major Assassin’s Creed game has been leaked.
Earlier today, Assassin’s Creed YouTuber j0nathan outlined a number of possible details about the next game in the series. Among those details, a possible name for the new game, which is expected to be Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and an expected release date between April and June 2023.
More details refer to a game set in 9th century Baghdad, confirm previously leaked details about the project, and state that the series will return to the “basics” of the series.
Some aspects of the j0nathan report were corroborated by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreyer. Schreyer stated, “A familiar person tells him that some aspect of [the new leak] correct,” including the name Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
A familiar person told me that parts of the new Assassin’s Creed leak are true (like the name and other things already reported by Bloomberg: Spring 23, Baghdad, Back to AC Basics) and other parts aren’t (“several cities to explore”) https://t.co /qmM6UZtKnGAugust 30 2022
However, Sinister understood other aspects of the leak as not true. j0nathan, for example, states that “several cities” will be explorable, but Schreier’s source indicates that this is incorrect. The original report also states that Ubisoft is “secretly preparing a remake of Assassin’s Creed 1” based on the assets created for Mirage, but it was not clear from Schreier’s tweet whether this was accurate.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is expected to be the title of the game formerly known as Assassin’s Creed Rift. It was meant to be a codename for the next title in the series, a smaller entry focused on stealth from starring As. If Mirage is the actual address, we’ll likely find out more during Ubisoft Forward game focused on Assassin’s Creed scheduled for next month.
