The E3 2022 digital event was initially canceled to serve as an alternative to the in-person show.
Will Powers, head of public relations at PC giant Razer, broke the news Twitter, citing an email confirming “E3 Digital has officially been canceled for 2022.” Razer would reasonably be on the mailing list for this type of news, and while the official E3 and ESA accounts haven’t made an official announcement yet, many industry insiders have endorsed the claim that the digital E3 2022 is dead.
We have reached out to the ESA to confirm, but when contacted by phone, an ESA employee said that no one was available to talk about it at this time. They did not deny in particular the cancellation of the event.
E3 2020 has been canceled entirely, while E3 2021 has held up as an online-only show.
