Stranger Things’s Noah Schnapp came out as gay on social media Thursday afternoon.
The 18-year-old actor shared the news in a TikTok clip where he wore a gray blazer while lying on a white pillow.
When I finally told my friends and family that I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was, “We know,” he wrote via video.
He also said in the video, “I think I look more like Will Byers than I thought!”

In July, Noah confirmed that Will Byers’ character in Stranger Things is gay and in love with his best friend Mike Wheeler, admitting that he had previously been careful about discussing the topic to avoid spoilers.
In a recent interview, the actor opened up about growing up alongside his onscreen persona and the significance of the ‘slow arc’ to his sexuality.

Before the news: Back in July, Noah confirmed that Stranger Things’ character Will Byers is gay and in love with his best friend Mike Wheeler, admitting that he had previously been careful in discussing the topic to avoid spoilers.
Not having Will ‘suddenly gay’ was done ‘beautifully’, Noah explained, adding that it was important to see the linear portrayal matter to viewers who saw their past reflected in his character.
“They write this real character and this real journey and real struggle and they do it really well,” he said.
Noah also told the outlet that he felt it would be a spoiler to confirm Will’s trip by discovering his sexuality.

Noah added that Will’s “multifaceted trauma” was difficult in his growth as an actor, because the role he plays is affected by so many different things.
