The recently released multi-platform game of life, Dreamlight ValleyLittle animal crossinglittle bit Stardu ValleyAnd the And a lot of Disney. It’s also the type of game you might want to play while watching a TV show, and multitasking with a portable console. But while it’s coming to Switch, this version isn’t great. Luckily , Dreamlight Valley It works great on Steam Deck with a few tweaks. Just be prepared to charge your Steam Deck before you play.

Don’t worry about what Steam says, it works

Steam listings offline Dreamlight ValleyIts compatibility with Steam Deck as “Unknown”, which is not surprising. What this means is that the game has not yet been reviewed by Valve for compatibility. Now, the question mark and the lack of a verified check mark might scare you, but don’t worry. after playing Dreamlight Valley For a few hours on my beautiful Valve laptop, I found the experience to be on par with most other playable and verified games.

However, you may need to change your library filters to actually find and install them. Simply change the filter with the X button and toggle it to show all games, even if they are unknown and unsupported. You should be able to see then Dreamlight ValleyAssuming you own it.

With just a few tweaks, this is a great way to play

Dreamlight Valley Steam Deck is a good experience once it’s out of the box, but with a few tweaks, you can greatly improve the way it plays. Before any changes, the game runs at 60 frames per second. It’s definitely playable, but it could be improved.

First, change the resolution to 1280×720 (Dreamlight doesn’t support the Deck’s native 1280×800). Leave it at 60Hz and reduce all the graphical settings to medium. Don’t mess with the Display Mode setting, as when I did this it locked up the game on the Steam Deck every time. But, with these settings, you’ll notice a nice improvement in framerate stability. You can drop the texture quality from default to low, too, as the Deck’s small screen does a good job of hiding the drop in quality. But in my time with the game, it wasn’t a necessary tweak.

Once you get Dreamlight Valley Working well on Steam Deck, you can also take advantage of the touch screen, allowing you to easily move items in your inventory and chests. If you are like me and like to reorganize these spaces frequently, then playing on Steam Deck is a great deal compared to using a console in a console. I find managing game inventory time consuming and disconcerting on a gamepad, especially compared to a mouse or a touch deck screen.

If you are just logging in to check out the store and do some mining and grow more crops, Steam Deck is perfect. Lately, I’ve been spending an hour every evening playing a little Dreamlight Valley while watching Task Manager Or random YouTube videos.

Fully charge your Steam first

In my testing of battery draining games on Steam Deck, Dreamlight Valley Not the worst offender, not even close. But it drains the deck faster than I expected. I guess all the Disney magic doesn’t come for free, does it?

Using the settings I shared earlier and without tweaking the system battery settings, it looks like a fully charged Steam Deck can play for two and a half to three hours depending on what you’re doing in the game. Of course, changes in settings can affect battery life, but do not expect more than three hours.

In short, with some minor tweaks, Dreamlight Valley Awesome deck. In fact, this might be the best way to play this new game, especially if you are someone who loves to multitask or prefers hanging out in the yard when playing. Just make sure to charge your Deck up first.
