It’s time to make your final choice, everyone. 2nd Splatfest Festival* for Splatoon™ 3 The game is close to us, and it’s going to be a storm!
But let’s take a step back. Splatfests are special in-game events in Splatoon 3 – these are festivals with fantasy floats, engaging music, and Impossible decisions. Impossible decisions like this: When choosing your partner Pokemon, which type would you choose? Grass type, fire type, or water type?
Put your thinking hats on because this event will be: Friday, November 11 4 p.m. to Sunday, November 13 4 p.m. PT.
So… What is Splatfest?
Splatfests are special, limited-time events in Splatoon 3 where players choose to defend one of three reasons. After you make your selection, you’ll represent your team in Splatfest Battles, where the goal is to manage as much stage as possible without getting hit too much. The ultimate winner will be announced at the end of the Splatest, answering the question once and for all**!
How do I choose a side?
After you start the game, go to the little kiosk in Splatsville to choose your destiny. This Pokemon question is very tricky, so go with what your heart has to say. After all, you will not be able to change your mind after choosing!
After choosing, you are given an in-game shirt to be worn during the event. This jersey comes with a special ability: the ability multiplier (according to its name, it multiplies the effect of other gear abilities associated with this gear).
Oh, and one more thing for the Sneak Peek and Splatfest timeframe – every time you gain a level in your catalog you’re also given something called a Conch Shell. These guys can be swapped out at the machine in the lobby for some fun goodies. Redeem early and recover often! They can’t be used for anything else, after all.
What changes during Splatfest?
A bunch of stuff do! In addition to how Splatsville looks and sounds, these Splatfest battle types will replace the regular ones: Open, Pro, and (mid-event) Tricolor. In “Unlock” you can enter a match with a group of friends. Choose “Pro” if you are a solo player – everyone on the team will be chosen at random.
How do I play Tricolor Turf War?
This mode is new to Splatoon 3 and 2v4v2 matches. Halfway through Splatfest, choose the three-color option when choosing a placement in the lobby. You are not guaranteed to match the three colors, but it is the only way this game will spin.
Basically, the team of four starts in the middle of the map and tries to defend their territory against the other two attacking teams (who technically work together in this mode but can still move each other!). You still need to draw the most space to win, but the pressure is on the defenders to maintain their position.
The defending team (which is also the current number one team at Splatfest), also needs to defend something called Ultra Signal. If someone from the attacking squad touches the Ultra Signal long enough, the Sprinkler of Doom will be summoned to the battlefield to spray ink everywhere. It’s as intense as the name “machine gun of death.”
What do you get when you win at Splatfest?
Well, the winner gets the bragging rights of course! But if you’re looking for something more physical, everyone who participates will get Super Sea Snails after Splatfest. The winning team will get more (obviously).
Talk to Murch who is standing outside the lobby if you’re not sure what to do with these. The short version is that Super Sea Snails can be used as a shortcut to upgrade your equipment and get abilities that better suit your needs.
Secret tip for professionals
Psst, do you want professional advice? If you’re in the market for cutting abilities, talk to Murch during Splatfest. Splatfest Tee scrubbers are much cheaper than usual, so you can scrub them way more often and get more power cuts. Let the good pieces roll!
