Sony and Honda plan to form a new company to design and sell electric vehicles. The partnership aims to integrate Honda’s expertise in car design and marketing with Sony’s capabilities in image sensors, telecommunications and entertainment.

“Sony’s mission is to fill the world with emotions through creativity and technology,” says Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida. Sony has been signaling its intentions to enter the automotive world for a while, but this marks its first firm move in the business sector. At CES 2020, Sony showed off an electric concept car called the Vision-S, and followed it up with the Vision-S 02 at CES 2022. At that time Sony announced plans to establish an operating company called Sony Mobility in the spring of 2022. ; The new Honda Partnership seems to have developed that idea.
