When Prince Harry I sat down to speak with NBC’s Hoda Kotb in The HagueThere was one thing at the front of his mind – Invictus Games. Unlike when he and Meghan barred everything with Oprah last year, this latest TV interview wasn’t meant to be an acknowledgment of the royal family’s life. The Prince was there to promote his games to wounded soldiers and women, and the corresponding net was awarded in connection with the event.

However, Harry has done enough interviews in his time to know that, especially if you stick to sitting down for a chat, there are plenty of other things people will ask. And so he couldn’t be completely surprised when Hoda started questioning him about his personal life. Starting with “What’s Wednesday for you?” The journalist quickly advanced to Prince’s last meeting with the Queen Which attracted a lot of attention right before the games. And in answer, Harry was also aware that his every word would be broadcast, analyzed and discussed around the world.

The prince seemed to willingly deal with most questions, but it was noticeable that he refrained from revealing anything very personal about himself or his family. In stark contrast to what he has revealed in previous interviews about his feelings of trauma and seeking treatment, Prince spoke in more ambiguous terms when asked about mental health. He did talk about meeting the Queen (“She’s in great shape. She always had a good sense of humor with me”) but wouldn’t say anything about what the 96-year-old King is doing or his thoughts on who-which. And was unsubscribedmmittal when asked if he would take part in the Platinum Jubilee events in June, citing the issues he already knew about his security in the UK.

However, perhaps the biggest insights into the interview are found in what Harry didn’t say. When asked if he misses his brother and father, his complete avoidance of the question and change of subject make it clear that there are still important bridges to be built there. His somewhat awkward statement that he wanted to make sure the Queen was “protected and had the right people around her” mostly highlighted apparent concerns about who influences his grandmother. And when the Prince said his domicile, for now, is “in the US”, there was no need to explain what that meant about his future in the UK.

Since revealing a number of revelations last year, the Sussexes have been noticeably more conservative about expressing their thoughts and feelings toward the royal family in recent months, and this latest interview is no exception. There will be those who will think that Harry is simply him now Save his true feelings in his autobiography Which is still believed to be released later this year. Others may wonder if his discretion is an indicator of the prospect of a united front and reconciliation in the future.

As is often the case when it comes to royal watch; Only time will prove it.
