The Professional Fighters League (PFL) returns with Friday night action this evening (July 1, 2022). The welterweights and women’s lightweights are on the line this evening, all leading up to the main event between two-time tournament champion Kayla Harrison and 15-year veteran Kaitlyn Young.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Rory MacDonald fights Satibo Tsai in the co-main event, while former PFL champion Ray Cooper III takes on Bellator alum Brett Cooper in a fight before another former tournament champion, Magomed Magomedkerimov, kicks off the bout. Late replacement main card, Delano Taylor.

155 lbs.: Kayla Harrison vs. Kaitlyn Young
First round: Harrison looks to strike early. A powerful double-leg puts her over in side control in a minute. Landing punches as Young tries to work his way up. Half guard in less than two minutes. Lower the right arms through the hook. She kept punching until full back mount and the ref stepped in.
Final Result: Harrison def. Young by TKO (punches)
170 lbs.: Rory McDonald vs. Sadibo Sy
Round 1: MacDonald’s early single-leg attempt. Tries to switch for a double, settles to put him on the fence. One minute. They broke up. Psy with a quick head kick, then wins again. There was nothing with two minutes left for McDonald to try to get a better angle. Sy turned upside down. MacDonald took him to his knees in two minutes.
They resume range in the center. Sy circles away from a combo and low kicks. MacDonald fires back once again, again denied. One minute to go. They separate. Straight from Sy, jabs behind it. A solid body kick from McDonald in response. Short liens against the fence. Sy pops him with a counter before getting the win. 10-9 Cy.
Round two: Both men try kicks before kicking off. McDonald puts him back on the fence. A minute in. Continue pressing Sy against the fence. In two minutes. In two minutes Psy tries to reverse.
Sai pushed him. Headshot attempt. Turn right from McDonald’s. Su’s jab and hook, long uppercut misses. McDonald’s for the body. One minute to go. McDonald looks for another single leg. Back to grinding against the fence. 10-9 McDonald’s.
Round three: MacDonald pressure, lands a nice overhand right and fires back once more. One minute. They broke up. Body kick attempt from Sy. Another clinch, Cy pressing this time. Joking for position. Rear hip lock for McDonald. Knees to the body in two minutes. Sy cruised to half guard in two minutes.
MacDonald works his way in, puts him on the fence and knees Sy in the trash again. No point reduction yet. Body kick by Sai that avoids a front kick. He tries to shoot, puts on the fence, and separates. Head and body kicks from Sy, then a quick clinch as they build. One minute to go. MacDonald tries to throw on the exit. Low kick from Sy and a quick jab after missing a head kick. Knee to the body from McDonald in response. Sy ends things with a pair of body kicks. And so ends the most fan-friendly performance of MacDonald’s career. 10-9 Cy.
Final result: Sy def. MacDonald’s decision was unanimous
170 lbs.: Brett Cooper vs. Ray Cooper III
Round 1: Cooper III comes out with a flurry of punches and gets completely stripped on the fence. Cooper tries to throw up again, but Cooper III wraps him up with knees and body shots before polishing him off.
Final Result: Cooper III def. Cooper by TKO (knees and punches).
170 lbs.: Magomed Magomedkerimov vs. Delano Taylor
Round 1: Quick jab from Taylor. Magomedkerimov swings in with a combo and lands a left hook. One minute. Both sit outside the strike zone. Brief conflict, no elimination. Quick transfer to center. Magomedkerimov tries a head kick, eats a low kick. A slow first round. Body shot in the clinch, can’t land a right on the way out. Two minutes to go.
A flying switch kick attempt catches Taylor in the groin, but he chooses to continue. Nice surprise taken by Magomedkerimov. He stood over Taylor near the cage and sat in guard. Magomedkerimov’s solid standing punches give Taylor a chance to fight back, but he is forced back down into guard. 10-9 Magomedkerimov.
Round two: Magomedkerimov lands a low kick. High-low 1-2s from Taylor. Magomedkerimov counters with a low kick a minute into the heavy counter from the right. Long falls 1-2 short. Two minutes of sin. Return to Touch Sparring page. Taylor tries another bare low kick and Magomedkerimov lands the same counter right to great effect. Taylor almost puts Boy in the hut but manages to find his feet again. Two minutes to go.
Another big right hand from Magomedkerimov. Flying knee misses, but another big right lands cleanly. The ref steps in for the TKO with Taylor standing outside on his feet.
Final result: Magomedkerimov def. Taylor by TKO (punches).
155 lbs.: Larissa Pacheco vs. Kena Fabian
Round 1: Pacheco advances early. She pulls Fabian up with a low kick and then rocks her with a hard combo that forces Fabian to shoot. Pacheco denies it, moves into a back body lock and then mounts her against the fence. The arm triangle is there for her and she closes it. She can’t go into side control as the cage and Fabian make it difficult. Caught in half guard, still pressing. To mount again, she lets it explode with punches until the ref intervenes.
Final result: Pacheco def. Fabian by TKO (punches)
170 lbs.: Jarrah Al-Shilavi vs. Magomed Umalatov
First Round: Tentative Start. At one minute, no strike was thrown. Umalatov punches in the clinch against the fence. Separation. Low kicks from Al-Silawi. In two minutes. The ref has to take action and the crowd goes wild. Half-aside low kick by Umalato. Decent clinch knee. Al-Silawi returns with a bang. Two minutes to go.
Umalatov expects a 1-2-3. Al-Silawi catches one of his kicks, but Umalatov hits him with a small backfist. Umalatov chased after him and dropped a bomb in a daze at an abrupt end to a deadly duel.
Final result: Umalatov def. Al-Silawi (punches) by KO
