The full extent of the devastation in Irbin can be seen in a new video taken by a Ukrainian NGO and provided to CNN.
Comes after the Ukrainian forces pushed Russian troops have left the city on the northwestern outskirts of Kiev in the past 36 hours.
Some context: CNN geolocated and verified the authenticity of the video taken by the Ukrainian Witness Project, which chronicles the war in Ukraine. This is one of the first videos in weeks from the eastern part of Irvine, where heavy fighting made it impossible to get there safely.
On Monday, the mayor of Irbin said Ukrainian forces had retaken the area from Russian forces.
poor land: The video, filmed on Tuesday, shows a wooded suburb that resembles a horrific wasteland.
The wind passing through the remaining trees and the shock of the sheet metal against the metal is the only thing audible in the video, save for the faint rumble of a military strike in the distance.
Constant bombardment: Russia Claims it will reduce the military Near Kyiv, but CNN saw no sign of that happening as military strikes continued on Tuesday night around the Ukrainian capital.
The video shows that while shootings, bombs, and war may have left Irvine—for now—as well as most of life in the city.
corpses in the streets Aside from the rubble and destroyed buildings, the corpses of civilians are the only thing on the streets.
A person wearing a leather jacket, apparently pulling a rickshaw when he was killed, was seen face down on the ground. Another victim appears on their backs in the back seat of a bullet-ridden car.
There are at least five bodies in the video. It is unclear how and when they died.
The video shows that they stayed where they were killed in the street, amid the silence of the wind between charred buildings and scattered trees.
