“According to the analysis of the on-site situation, we can confirm in advance that this is an accident (not due to vehicle related reasons),” it added.
Neo also said he was cooperating with a police investigation into the cause of the crash.
The company did not respond to a request for comment from CNN Business.
Founded in 2014 by Chinese businessman William Lee, Neo has become one of the fastest growing electric car startups in China and one of Elon Muskin’s domestic competitors for Tesla.
Last year, it delivered 91,429 vehicles, up 109% from 2020, the company said. In the first five months of this year, it delivered 37,866 units, up 12% from the same period a year earlier.
Neo listed its shares on the New York Stock Exchange in 2018.
