Mike Frabel: Willis’ owner should be more decisive

Titans Rookie Quarterback Malik Willis He played his first game for the team on Thursday night, and coach Mike Frabel’s review of his third-round pick performance can be summed up in three words.

After the Titans lost to the Ravens, Frabel said at a press conference that Willis needs to let her rip more often. Willis was 6 of 11 for 107 yards and Frabel said in a post-match news conference that he felt the quarterback was too hesitant when it came to pulling the trigger on passes.

“He should try to throw the ball when the players are open, and be more decisive,” said Frabel. “We’ll evaluate that, and see if there’s a timing issue or what happens. I want to get him out there, see how he responds. There have been some good plays and obviously some plays we’re going to have to look at the timing of the release and whether we’re making the right decisions.”

Frabel said Willis’ indecision led him to make a midfield change earlier than expected in the third quarter. The rookie ran five times for 38 yards and a touchdown, but said after the game he “can’t keep relying” on playing with his legs instead of his arm. He will get another chance to run the attack against the pirates on August 20th.
