Former Nebraska interim football coach Mickey Joseph was arrested in Lincoln on Wednesday. Joseph faces charges of third-degree assault and domestic strangulation.At approximately 1:54 p.m., officers responded to a home near S 34th Street and Tree Line. Drive due to a domestic disturbance, according to Lincoln Police. After an investigation, the 54-year-old Joseph was being held in a separate location, according to authorities. “To protect the victim in this case and in accordance with Nebraska law, additional information, including the identity of the victim and any injuries, has not been released,” Lincoln Police said in a statement. Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts released a statement Wednesday after Joseph’s arrest was announced. The nature of the allegations and based on university policy, he was placed on administrative leave. After firing Scott Frost in September, Joseph compiled a 3-6 record as the Huskers’ interim head coach, including a 24-17 win over Iowa, Alberts said in a statement.

Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts released a statement on Wednesday following the announcement of Joseph’s arrest.
“I have learned of the charges against Coach Joseph and due to the nature of the allegations and based on university policy he has been placed on administrative leave. We will have no further comment at this time,” Alberts said in a statement.
