Hey all hot young couples, I have bad news. dead The communication app focused on relationships Tuned officially closes on September 19. Or, if you’re like me and 1) single and/or 2) you’ve never heard of this app before, September 19 is just another Monday.

Tuned is a Meta product released during the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic in April 2020When you stay in touch with someone you love, it was really easy if you were isolated with them, or really hard if you were isolated without them. While the app’s launch at the start of the pandemic was likely serendipitous (apps take time to develop), its structure of getting couples to connect via quirky prompts and a simple interface couldn’t have come at a better time. But now, a little more than two years later, the app is so close day September 19.

The Meta New Product Experimentation communications team told us in an email that “Tuned is an NPE beta app. In the spirit of experimentation likewise Previous applicationsWe try a lot of things, we learn, and if our tests aren’t consistent, stop them.”

I tried to try Tuned to write this article, but when I entered my phone number to register, I was greeted with an error message. Tuned may no longer accept new users as it begins terminating its services, and Meta did not process my request immediately to illustrate it. aaccording to 360 . ToolAnd the The app is a “private space where you and your other partner can just be yourselves. With Tuned, you can be mushy, quirky, and silly as if you were together in person, even when you’re apart.”

Meta seems to be going through a bit of a rough time, and it’s possible that canceling Tuned will be part of the company’s broader effort to save money and stay away from social media. Meta has endured the recent employment chatter Slower Imminent layoffs: Leaked executive documents ask managers to downgrade poorly performing employees under the guise that they’re “not who we need,” Meta employees are now said to be concerned about layoffs, rumors of up to 10% of the company’s workforce.

Meta is also making an apparent effort to distance itself from its ‘Facebook’ days on social media. organizational pressure and public scrutiny through an elaborate scheme to rebrand itself into a virtual reality powerhouse. But we all know how Metaverse go.

A controlled shutdown is likely to be an issue for the few couples who are still using the eye-catching app two years after its launch, but it could also be a symptom of a larger internal company restructuring.
