Julian Edelman agrees with Martellus Bennett’s tough stance on Jimmy Garoppolo

The New England Patriots It was a strange start to the 2016 season.

Tom Brady Four matches were suspended after Deflategate and left to Jimmy Garoppolo to display his talent. The Patriots were high on Garoppolo and many people thought he would be the one to replace Brady – who seemed to be nearing the end of his career.

Garoppolo got off to a solid start in the first two matches, but hurt his shoulder in Week 2 against Miami Dolphin. Jacobi Brisset He came in the third week and played very well, but he tore his thumb ligaments. Garoppolo was scheduled to start the final in Week 4, but slipped into second and left it up to Brissett against the Buffalo Bills.

“Brother, we lost two games (without Brady),” Bennett said, Via NBC Sports Boston. “One of them was because Jimmy Garoppolo was (expletive). He quit before, and decided not to play right before the game. Jacoby (Brestet) went out and played with a (expletive) thumbs up and played his heart, but Jimmy was just[expletive]about everything” .

Julian Edelman joined the I AM ATHLETE podcast and supported Bennett’s position with much less vulgarity.

“I mean, I don’t know we’re all footballers here,” Edelman said of Garoppolo’s injury, Written by NESN. “So we went into week four and Jimmy was training and then decided not to play. Jacobi played without ties in his thumb, which is something you can’t do as a midfield.

“A lot of men got angry about it. I won’t lie, I went crazy about it,” Edelman continued. “I sacrificed my body all day. I was taking shots for this, numb that, ribs, broken ribs, shoulders, third degree hanging with limbs just to play. I can understand why Marty (Bennett) is thinking this way.”

In hindsight, this could have played a role in Garoppolo’s trade to the San Francisco 49ers. Brady led the Patriots to a record 14-2 that season and a Super Bowl victory.
