Jeremy Renner was saving his nephew when he was injured in a snowplow accident, sheriff’s report says

The Nevada sheriff’s report has been obtained CNN He finds that Jeremy Renner was actually trying to save his nephew when he got into a snowfall accident on New Year’s Day that nearly cost him his life. The Hawkeye actor was trying to stop his snow removal tractor from a skid and hit his nephew when he was pulled under the car and crushed.

Renner told investigators he was using his snowmobile to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow when the snowplow started sliding sideways. Then the actor got out of the car to try to stop the machine.

“As soon as he was away from Pistenbully, he realized he was heading straight for (his nephew),” the report read. “He was afraid that Bestenpelemer would hit[his nephew]so he decided to try to stop or divert Bestenpelemer.”

In order to get back to the snowplow cabin, Renner had to climb onto its moving track. The report notes that the moment he attempted to climb, he was “immediately pulled down the left side track.” It is also important to note that the parking brake on the Snowcat is not engaged.

“Although Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would prevent Pistenbully from moving forward,” the report stated. “When Renner tried to stop or turn Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the car by the track and run over.”

The report also stated that “mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident” due to a faulty brake indicator light.

The good news was eventually that Renner’s nephew was there, though he was able to help the actor until help arrived. Renner is then airlifted to the hospital; He underwent at least two surgeries and was treated in the intensive care unit.

Renner has now returned home but is still recovering from the accident. He took to Twitter to thank all his supporters for their love and support, revealing that he had broken “over 30” bones during the incident.
