“Jashya is currently safe and all services are being provided. He will soon return to New Jersey,” said Theodore N., Acting Attorney for Essex County. Stephens said in a news release.
Authorities plan to hold a news conference Friday morning with more details about the case.
The 14-year-old girl was last seen on the morning of October 14 in a teleportation near her home in East Orange, New Jersey.
The news comes after the reward for any information about her whereabouts was raised to $ 20,000.
“She did not run. She was abducted. I do not know who did it, but we are looking for you,” her mother Jamie Moore told a news conference Tuesday.
Over the weekend, teams from several municipalities spent a portion of Saturday searching for teenagers using sonar technology in a pond in a nearby park.
Despite much attention and urgency given to the cases of missing white women, those of color are disappearing in proportion. According to 2020 FBI data, black people make up 35% of missing persons’ reports but only 13% of the U.S. population. Meanwhile, whites make up 54% of reported cases of disappearances and 76% of the U.S. population.
