Former players and celebrities fill the Cameroon indoor arena for Duke’s men’s basketball coach Mike Kryzewski’s final home game

Durham, NC – Nearly 100 former players, including Duke legends Grant Hill, Jason Williams, Shane Patter and Christian Lautner, lined up at the Cameroon Indoor Stadium on Saturday to welcome coach Mike Khrzechevsky in their usual Blue Devils robe. The season – and the life of the legendary coach at his home ground – was against rival North Carolina.

Cameron may have rolled out the official red carpet for the indoor event.

Duke has already won his first solo ACC regular-season title since 2006 – the demand for tickets to watch Khrushchev’s coach’s final home game was astronomical, with an average price of around $ 6,000. To StubHub.

Beyond the 96 ex-players who came to see Kryzewski, there was also a crowd of sports and Hollywood stars in the arena.

Fans roared as comedian Jerry Seinfeld and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver sat side by side and waved at the video board. Sitcom stars Ken Jeong and Retta were seated on the baseline on the court side. Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse, former Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitsky and Hall of Fame receiver Darrell Owens were in attendance.

But the celebrities who stole this moment were fewer than the crowd – a house full of more than an hour to make a dip, roaring with energy – and the extended Duke family who stole the show for Khrushchev.

Former players built a tunnel from one corner of the baseline to Midcourt. The 75-year-old, who trained his first game here in November 1980, went through the former players’ phalanxes, tapping each other on the chest, punching or hugging them. Many picked up cell phones and recorded the moment for the offspring.

After Krishevsky went to the end of the line, the group met in midcourt for a photo of the family reuniting.
