California authorities found a guitarist and his wife dead on a road near Mojave Desert last week.
The late Larry Petrie and his 60-year-old wife Betty Petrie were reportedly found dead In their car in a remote part of Kern County, Petrie’s cousin Laurie Sanders told the Bakersfield Californian newspaper.
“What were they doing there? They don’t travel far from home,” Sanders told the outlet, noting that Petrie had lost his way to prom weeks ago.
Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies found Larry Petrie sitting in the driver’s seat of the car, and Petty Petri leaning on the rear tire, the department said in a news release. Homicide investigators were not called to the scene.
“There is currently no evidence to suggest there is anything criminal about these deaths,” KCSO Communications Officer Lori Mezza told Fox News Digital.
Photographer Debbie Bohan, owner of BScene Event Photography, told Fox News Digital that steel guitarist Larry Petrie was a “real county guy.”
“He was one of Bakersfield’s best! He was funny, friendly and always had his real smile,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “Both will be greatly missed!…we pray for the family and all the friends whose lives you touched. I hope they tear up together.”
Coroner’s Kern County office did not release the autopsy results until Friday afternoon.
