Director James Cameron He spent over a decade making the first of four planned sequels to his 2009 blockbuster film symbol picture. We got our first peek at the first of those sequels, Avatar: Water Road, in May With a brief and visually stunning teaser that showcases Cameron’s undisputed skill at building the world. But despite the enthusiasm for the visuals, the overall response was somewhat muted. Perhaps more audience excitement will emerge for the upcoming movie now that we have the full official trailer.
as we are I mentioned earlierCameron wrote a cure for symbol picture In 1994, it was supposed to be the director’s next big project after he wrapped up his blockbuster film Titanic. But Cameron realized that the technology did not yet exist to make the film he had envisioned. He spent several years working on developing what he needed, including an advanced virtual camera system to direct action capture scenes. (Compare it to a “big, powerful game engine.”)
The final film set new box office records upon its release; It was the highest-grossing movie even Avengers: Endgame It briefly held the number one spot in 2019. (Chinese version rolled out in March 2021 symbol picture Critics were mostly positive, praising the technological achievements, although some noted that storytelling suffered. Cameron also consulted with several scientists while designing the world for Pandora (a moon orbiting a gas giant exoplanet called Polyphemus in the Alpha Centauri A system). symbol picture It was nominated for nine Academy Awards, eventually winning Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.
even before symbol pictureAfter his release, Cameron hoped to make two series, expanding the story to other moons of Polyphemus. The first will contain Pandora’s Ocean and include filming footage at the bottom of the Mariana Trench with a deep-water submarine. But again, he needed technology that did not yet exist – that is, to shoot underwater action scenes.
Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri, respectively. Jake decides to merge with his avatar permanently at the end of the first movie in order to be with Neytiri and start a family on Pandora. In the official synopsis: “The film takes place more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: Water Road It begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake and Netery and their children), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight for survival, and the tragedies they endure.”
Jimmy Flatters, Britannia Dalton, and Trinity Place play the husband’s three children (Netyam, Lo-Ak, and Tok), while Jack Champion plays a teen named Spider, who is born humanely and is rescued and adopted by the couple. Sigourney Weaver (Dr. Grace Augustine), Stephen Lang (Colonel Myles Quaritch), and Matt Gerald (Corporal Lyle Winfleet) will also return, although all three of their characters originally died. CCH Pounder returns as Mo’at, Neytiri’s mother and spiritual leader of the Omaticaya clan.
This new trailer doesn’t give us much in terms of plot detail, but Cameron has always known how to tell a compelling story. We know that the Sulli clan will have to leave their home when the humans stir up trouble again on Pandora. This leads them to seek sanctuary with the underwater tribe of Na’vi, who were initially reluctant to accept the newcomers, lest they bring their “war” to this other tribe. The trailer shows the Scully family adjusting to their new surroundings despite some stress of being an “outcast”. But another clash with humans is inevitable.
