An autopsy confirms that Gilly Rodney’s body was found in Prosser Reservoir

Rodney was last seen on August 6 at a large party at the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee next to the reservoir with hundreds of teenagers. The last known ping from Rodney’s cell phone was made near the reservoir around 12:30 p.m. that same night, officials said.

An official with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that when the lake was previously searched, those conducting the search did not have the same expertise and specialized skills as the adventurers intended.

Nevada County officials said they believe their investigation helped narrow down the search area before his vehicle and remains were found.

The California Highway Patrol is now conducting a traffic fatality investigation.

Results of toxicology reports are expected in a few weeks. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
