Firefighters continued to fight a major fire at a home depot near Oakridge Mall in south San Jose late Saturday.
A large worm of thick, black smoke from the fire on the 900 block of Blossom Hill Road can be seen for miles in the South Bay. Firefighters said a nearby pet hospital had also been evacuated and those wishing to reconnect with their pets would have to move to Golfland in Winfield.
According to the San Jose Fire Department, all staff and dozens of customers evacuated the home depot safely. The fire was not reported to have spread to nearby areas.
Fire officials said they had received information that the fire may have spread near the area where the tree was cut, but were still investigating the origin of the fire.
San Jose said there were no injuries in the fire.
NBC Bay Area staff were at the scene when they reported seeing parts of the roof enter.
Residents and workers in the area are being asked to stay in the area because of the San Jose fire, fire and smoke. Firefighters said nearby residents should close all doors and windows to reduce smoke coming into their homes.
The Santa Clara County Fire Department provides response and mutual assistance.
