At halftime on Sunday Night Football, the Los Angeles Chargers led the San Francisco 49ers 16-10.

The Chargers were aided by several San Francisco mistakes in the first half, including a Brandon Ayuck fumble and a block by Mitch Wishnowski. Each of those mistakes led to a Los Angeles field goal that gave the Chargers the lead going into halftime.

Meanwhile, the LA defense was surprisingly burned by Christian McCaffrey (8 carries for 18 yards) and Elijah Mitchell (5 carries for 23 yards), and instead was torched by Jimmy Garoppolo’s improvement (33-yard pass to Ray-Ray McCloud). A quarterback sneak. Justin Herbert was efficient in the passing game, completing 14 of 21 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown, while Austin Ekeler (6 catches for 37 yards) and DeAndre Carter (3 for 70 and a score) did most of the damage. However, Herbert was ejected from the game late in the first half after being hit in the head by Niners linebacker Trey Greenlaw, who was ejected from the game.
